Costa Rica: $25 million in Bridge Construction

It has been announced that designs for two bridges over the Virilla River on Route 32 and in Santa Ana are now ready and the specifications are being prepared to tender the construction works.

The bidding process will be run by the Office of Project Services of the UN (UNOPS). "... The bridge over Route 32 will be three lanes, which in addition to the current facilities will make five lanes. In the case of Santa Ana there will be a parallel bridge, next to the current one, which will have four lanes available."

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Works:

The finalized and approved designs of the new bridges over the river Virilla for Route 32 and the Santa Ana ring road, will be sent next week to the Association of Engineers and Architects for their respective viewing.

This is the next step in these two projects with a combined value of $25 million (about 013,500 million) which will serve to provide more fluidity to traffic both on Route 147 which connects Santa Ana and Belen, and Route 32, near the Ricardo Saprissa stadium.

Another Obstacle to the Fourth Bridge over the Canal

The National Assembly created a commission to investigate the public contracting process by which the Panama Fourth Bridge Consortium was awarded the contract for the design and construction of the fourth bridge.

After multiple delays in the tender process, the Varela administration and the Panama Cuarto Puente Consortium, made up of China Communications Construction Company LTD and China Harbour Engineering Company LTD, signed the contract for the work in question in November 2018.

Bridge Over the Canal: Chinese Contract Confirmed

After the tender was suspended in response to an appeal submitted by Astaldi-Daelim, the Ministry of Public Works reported that this will not affect the outcome of the process, in which the consortium of Chinese construction companies won.

Last week a complaint from the Astaldi - Daelim Consortium, which argued that in the commission report, as well as in the development of the contractor selection process, some situations occurred which were openly contrary to the due process of the tender.

Tender for Works on Hydroelectric Project

In El Salvador, a tender is being launched for the construction of a vehicular bridge and the opening and improvement of perimeter roads in the El Chaparral hydroelectric project.

El Salvador: New Bridge Tender

January 2015

It has been announced that the $8.4 million contract signed with Serdelco SA for the design and construction of the bridge between Chalatenango and La Libertad will be canceled and the works will be re-tendered.

It is expected that in February there will be an announced about the tender mechanism to be used to continue the project, in which so far on the desing phase has been finished.
