Costa Rica: $16 Million Investment in Clinical Center

Construction is to begin next year of a new hospital for palliative care and pain control.

On a 2,300m2 site in the Costa Rican capital, San Jose, a three story building will be constructed with rooms for outpatient services and physical therapy.

“The new building will be three blocks north of Calderón Guardia Hospital and will be fully equipped with facilities to improve the care of terminally ill patients,” reports Nacion.com.

The work is expected to be finished in 2012.

$80 Million Trust for Hospital Construction

Costa Rica's state-owned bank "Banco Nacional" put in place a trust to build the critical care area of the Children's Hospital.

Authorities are working on the technical specifications of the new complex, known as "Torre de la Esperanza", and expect to have them ready by June. After this, they will invite companies to bid on designing the blueprints of the facility.

Bidding documents have been published for the new East Tower of the Calderón Guardia hospital.

Costa Rica's social security agency (CSS) has published details of a project to consult, build, equip and maintain the new wing of the hospital.

Danilo Monge, Special Projects Director for the CSS, told elfinancierocr.com that the East Tower will contain 23,000 square meters of floor space to be built in three stages and is expected to be ready by 2016.

Costa Rica Build New Children’s Hospital Building

$50 million will be invested in building a new intensive care building for the National Children’s Hospital, in San José.

It will feature eight stories with emergency services, intensive care units and a trauma ward, among other facilities. A helipad will be installed in the rooftop.

Costa Rica: Heredia Hospital Construction Progresses

With an $85 million total investment, works at the Heredia Hospital complex are 73% completed.

The six buildings comprising the hospital complex are already built, and they will be equipped between April and May 2010.

"...to the moment we have complied with each of the milestones in the schedule, so it is expected that Edica Ltda, the company in charge of equipping the buildings, could deliver the complex to the Costa Rican Social Insurance Authority by April 2010", said construction chief Robert Sánchez Acuña, in an article in Prensalibre.cr.
