Costa Rica: 1.6% Inflation at the Beginning of 2020

During January, the Consumer Price Index registered a 1.58% year-on-year variation, a rise that was influenced by the increase in the prices of Rent and housing services, and Education.

Out of the 315 goods and services that make up the consumer basket, 48% increased in price, 44% decreased in price and 8% showed no variation, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Census.

The report details that "... During January, the goods and services that showed the greatest positive effect were: water service, university education and tourist packages. On the other hand, onion, electricity and gasoline services were the main ones with the most negative effect.

In January of the last ten years, the highest year-on-year change was in 2013 with 5.74%, while in 2016 the only negative year-on-year change was recorded (-0.17%).

In July the consumer price index rose by 0.32%, with cumulative inflation in the year at 1.33% and 1.16% in year-on-year terms.

Honduras: Year on Year Inflation in April 2017 is 4,10%

May 2017

In April the consumer price index registered a variation of 0.37% with respect to March, and a cumulative variation so far in the year of 2.03%.

From the monthly report by the Central Bank of Honduras:

The Consumer Price Index recorded a monthly growth of 0.37% in April 2017, mainly due to an increase in residential electricity rates and the price of some housing maintenance services, therefore, year-on-year inflation was 4.10% and accumulated inflaction 2.03% (2.44% and 1.26% at April 2016, respectively). [GRAFICA caption = "Click to interact with graphics"]
