Main Suppliers
During the last year, 62% of the value imported into Central America was from Chile, 24% from Brazil, 6% from Spain, 2% from the U.S. and 2% from Mexico.

Regional Business Keeps Rising
Between 2017 and 2018, the value of imported copper wire in Central America registered a 25% growth, from $83 million to $104 million. In the case of volume purchased abroad, a 176% increase was reported, going from 12,922 tons to 35,611 tons, for the years in question.

Costa Rican Companies, Main Buyers
During 2018, Costa Rica continued to be the main importing country in the region, registering purchases of $93 million, followed by El Salvador, with $6 million, Panama, with $4 million, and Honduras and Guatemala with $100,000 each. Nicaragua reported purchases of less than $100,000 for the year in question.

Regional import of copper wire grows 38%

September 2018

During the first quarter of the year, the Central American countries allocated $ 28 million to the purchase of copper wire abroad, 38% more than that reported in the same period of 2017.

Aluminum in Central America: $143 million Worth of Imports

August 2018

During the first quarter of the year, countries in the region purchased a total of $143 million worth of aluminum and its manufactures, and 48% was imported by companies in Guatemala and Costa Rica.
