Coors Light now Available in Costa Rica

Costa Rican company 'Agencias Feduros', is now distributing Coors Light beer in the country.

Costa Rica becomes the second country in which Molson Coors Brewing Company introduces its "Coors Light" beer, after Panama, where the product is available since 2007.

"The company may need to develop manufacturing in Latin America to accommodate growth of Coors Light, its best-selling brand", said Paul Mendieta, CEO for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, in a Bloomberg.com article. "Options may include building a brewery or cooperating with another brewer".

An increase in the consumption of craft beer has led the Florida Ice and Farm corporation to enter this niche market, where it is expected that the upward trend will continue.

Gisela Sánchez, director of corporate relations at Florida Ice and Farm, told Elfinancierocr.com that the company "... has decided to invest in creating a small craft beer business, completely independent of Cervecería Costa Rica."

'Cervecería Costa Rica' Expands China Distribution

Since entering the Chinese market in January, the Costa Rican brewer has expanded its reach to six provinces.

To date they have exported 50 containers, each one with 1.512 boxes of 24 bottles, reported Gisela Sánchez, company executive.

"The company [Florida Ice & Farm] entered China by signing an alliance with brewer Tsingtao and also with distribution company Powsun, one of the top dealers of that brand in the Asian country", reported Nacion.com.

Brewery allince unites Costa Ricans and Guatemalans

An alliance between Cervecería Centroamericana de Guatemala and Cervecería Costa Rica will allow the two to expand the range of options available to beer drinkers.

The agreement seeks to satisfy the demand for new products in the brewing niche of both countries. They plan to do this with the appearance in the Costa Rican market of the Gallo brand, and of the Imperial brand in Guatemala.

Guatemalan brewer Cervecería Centro Americana has begun to import and distribute Costa Rica's leading beer, Imperial.

Imperial will be marketed in Costa Rica as a premium, imported brand.
