Wednesday, February 28, 2018

From a statement issued by the Panama Canal Authority:

In an erroneous manner, the newspaper La Estrella de Panama alludes in its edition of Monday, February 26, 2018, to a tender process that ended last year. At this time there is no pre-qualified company to participate in any tender for this project.

After the bidding process of the port of Corozal has been completed, the Canal Administration has now turned to carrying out work on the corresponding evaluations to present new terms and conditions for the development and operation of a container port in Corozal Oeste.

This project is part of the commercial development strategy of the ACP, and is still under evaluation, because it has great potential and could contribute to fulfilling its constitutional responsibility to operate the route in a profitable manner for the benefit of the country.
