Construction of Prison for $98 million

An award has been made to Ingenieros Civiles Asociados SA de C.V. for a contract for the expansion of Canada prison in the department of Escuintla, Guatemala.

Under the method of purchase by exception and restricted to firms invited to bid in advance, the Directorate General of Prisons has awarded to the company Ingenieros Civiles Asociados S.A. de C.V. the expansion of the Canada prison for $98 million.

The award document was published on Guatecompras on December 10, 2014 and details the appointment of a supervisor by the contractor.

Chinese and Panamanian companies make up the consortiums that submitted offers ranging between $76.7 million and $77.4 million to build a new prison complex in Colón, Panama.

El Salvador: Prison Expansion for $8 million

October 2015

The government has given approval to the company Constructora Disa to start construction of additional works in the prison complex of Izalco.

The project involves the extension of the detention center, which will increase the available spaces to accommodate inmates by in 1296. The work kicked off with the signing of the contract between the government and the company for its design and construction.

Panama: Prison Construction Resumes

May 2015

Authorization has been given to the company Consortium Quality and Associates SA to resume in July works at the prison in the province of Chiriqui, after having been stalled for a year because of debts owed to contractors.

The work, valued at $18 million, was awarded to the consortium Quality y Asociados SA in late 2012, but was halted in April last year due to differences between the builder and authorities.
