Construction in Panama: Prices up to February 2020

During the second month of the year in the country, the price of the sand yard grew 4% compared to the same month in 2018, and the No. 4 stroller foot fell by 12%.

From the General Comptroller of the Republic's report:

The accumulated average behavior of January - February 2020, regarding the same period in 2019, showed increases in the Price Indexes (PI) of the Sand Yard and the Stone Yard No. 4, both by 3.2%. The IP of the No. 4 clay block by 1.2%, and the IP of the polarized box socket unit by 0.6%. In contrast, the IPs of the No. 4 Carriola foot by 12.3%, the 30-foot stretch of the ½" steel rod by 11.3% and the 94-pound bag of gray cement by 6.7%. In addition, the PIs of the foot of Zinc No. 26 corrugated galvanized by 3.3%, the cubic meter of premixed concrete by 2.4%, the percent of Cement Block No. 4 by 1.6% and the 10-foot stretch of PVC plastic pipe by 0.4% were reduced. The IP's of the unplanned wooden foot and the foot of stranded electric cable No. 12 showed no change from the price recorded in January 2020.

In February 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, the PIs that showed increases were: the sand and stone yard No. 4, both by 3.8%, the 10-foot stretch of PVC plastic pipe by 0.8% and the clay block No. 4 maintained the same price level as the previous month. On the other hand, the PIs of the foot of Carriola No. 4 decreased by 11.8%, the 30-foot stretch of the ½" steel rod by 11.1%, the 94-pound bag of gray cement by 7.1%, and the polarized box socket unit by 1.2%. The PIs of the galvanized corrugated zinc foot No. 26, the cubic meter of premixed concrete, and the percent of Cement Block No. 4 maintained the same price level as the similar month of the previous year; however, the PIs of the unbrushed wood foot and the stranded electric cable foot No. 12, did not vary.

The PIs that increased for February compared to January of this year were: the PIs for the No. 4 Stone yard by 1.3%, the No. 4 Sand yard by 1.2% and the No. 4 Carriola foot by 1.1%. In contrast, the IP of the 94-pound bag of gray cement decreased by 0.8%. For the period, the remaining 9 materials of the 13 investigated, showed no variation over the price recorded in January.

During January, domestic sand prices rose 3% compared to the same month in 2018, and the 94-pound sack of gray cement fell 2%.

In January 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, the IPs showing increases were: Sand Yard by 2.6%, Stone Yard No. 4 by 2.5%, Polarized Box Outlet Unit by 2.4% and Clay Block % by 1.2%.

In the third month of the year, the price of the polarized socket in Panama grew 15% over March 2018, and the foot of stranded electric cable increased 6%.

The average accumulated behavior from January to March 2019, compared to the same period in 2018, showed increases in the Price Indexes (IP) of the socket unit for polarized box in 13.3%, the foot of the Carriola N°4 in 8.1% and the foot of Zinc N°26 corrugated galvanized in 4.6%, informed the General Comptroller of the Republic.

November 2018

From January to October 2018 in Panama, the price of the 30-foot stretch of steel rod increased 14%, and the unit of the polarized socket increased 5%.

The average accumulated behavior from January to October 2018, with respect to the same period in 2017, showed increases in the Price Indexes (IP) of the 30-foot section of the steel rod of ½" by 13.8%, the unit of the current collector for polarized socket by 4.9%, and the foot of Stranded electric cable N°12 by 4.6%. On the other hand, the IP of the 10-foot section of the PVC plastic pipe decreased by 3.9%, the foot of Carriola N°4 by 3.7%, the one of the yard of Sand by 2.7% and the one hundred of Cement Block N°4 by 2.6%, reported the General Comptroller.
