Construction Prices - May 2018

In Costa Rica, the price indices for buildings and low-income housing registered inter-annual variations of 6.7% and 5.7%, respectively, in the fifth month of the year.

From a statement issued by the National Institute of Statistics and Census:

The construction price indexes based on February 2012 are a set of twenty statistical indicators, which measure the variation in the prices of materials used in construction of different types of works. They are composed of the price index of buildings, the price index of affordable housing, and a group of eighteen price indices of raw materials and special services.

Building price index (percentage changes April 2018) 
Monthly: -0.76% (May 2018)
Year-on-year: 6.67% (June 2017 to May 2018)

The level of the building price index is 109,324, while in the previous month it was 110,157. The elements that made the greatest negative contribution to the monthly variation in May 2018 were: transformers and copper cable.

Index of prices of affordable housing (percentage variations May 2018) 
Monthly: 0.48% (May 2018)
Year-on-year: 5.70% (June 2017 to May 2018)

The level of the price index of affordable housing is 109,353, while in the previous month it was 108,831. The elements that showed the greatest positive contribution to the monthly variation in May 2018 are: RTG structure and blocks.
