The results show that the Index of Prices of Construction Materials (IPMC) registered a 13.8% year-on-year growth with respect to March of the previous year (9.6% in February 2019 and 8.6% in March 2018), informed the Central Bank of Nicaragua.

The report states that "... Of the five chapters that make up the aggregate of the IPMC, the greatest growth was registered by wood and ceilings (29.2%), followed by metals and derivatives (13.0%), electricity and lighting (10.6%), toilets and floors (6.4%), and cement and derivatives (4.8%).

Additionally, the accumulated variation of the IPMC up to March was 5.4 percent, as a result of the increases in the chapters of wood and roofs, electricity and lighting, metals and derivatives, sanitary and floors, and finally the chapter cement and derivatives."

The statistics of the Price Index of Construction Materials (IPMC) corresponding to February 2019, indicate that the IPMC registered a 9.6% year-on-year growth regarding the same month of the previous year, variation greater than the 8.4% reported in February 2018, informed the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN).

Prices of Construction Materials Continue to Rise

After reporting a year-on-year growth of 9% up to May, in June in Nicaragua the Construction Materials Price Index registered a 10% increase.

The Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN) reported that the Construction Materials Price Index (IPMC) corresponding to June 2018 showed that it recorded a year-on-year growth of 9.8 percent compared to June of the previous year (9.1% in May 2018 and 0.1 % June 2017).

During May, the Construction Materials Price Index registered a variation of 9% with respect to the same month in 2017.

The report explains that " ...Of the five chapters that make up the IPMC aggregate, the highest growth was recorded by metals and derivatives (14.8%), followed by wood and ceilings (10.2%), electricity and lighting (8.6%) and cement and derivatives (5.6%). On the other hand, there was a decrease in the chapter of toilets and flooring (-1.2%)."
