Construction: Contracts Awarded for $21 million

Schools, renovation of high rise residential buildings and airport infrastructure are some of the construction projects for which contracts were awarded in Central America in April 2016.

The report "Construction Projects in Central America", prepared by the Business Intelligence unit at CentralAmericaData.com contains a detailed list of major construction projects taking place in Central America.

The report notes that in Panama in the month of April a contract for the "design, development and construction of the Daniel Alvarez Integral Educational Center, located in the village of Llano catival, district of Mariato, province of Veraguas, Republic of Panama" was awarded to the company Constructora Rigaservices, S.A., in the amount of $10.7 million.

In Panama, a contract for the "supply of materials, labor, equipment and administration for the renovation of multifamily buildings in the San Joaquin complex" was awarded to EcoHabitat, S.A., in the amount of $4.3 million.

In Costa Rica, a contract for the "improvement of pavements of the runway, its adjacent taxiways, safety strips and evacuation water systems at the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport" was awarded to Constructora Meco S.A., for the amount of $3.4 million.

In El Salvador, a contract for the "construction of a building for parking and administrative offices of the Salvadoran Institute for Professional Training-INSAFORP" was awarded to Ingram, S.A. de C.V., in the amount of $2.6 million.

Award: School Infrastructure for $40 million

May 2016

In Panama Constructora MECO SA has been awarded contracts for studies, design, construction, replacement of ranch-style infrastructure and other renovations and expansions in schools nationwide, Phase 1.

In the tender for the replacement, remodeling and expansion of schools in the District of Muna, Ngobe Bugle, Constructora MECO SA submitted a bid of $40.4 million, competing with proposals from Bienes Raices y Construcciones Nostrot S.A. and Metales Panamericanos, S. A., who bid $40.4 million and $5.6 million respectively.
