Construction: $340 million in Educational Projects

In the first nine months of 2018, 100 environmental impact studies were submitted for projects for the construction of new educational centers, expansions and remodeling of schools.

The interactive system "Construction in Central America", compiled by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, includes an up to date list of public and private construction projects that present environmental impact studies (EIAs) to the respective institutions in each country.

Panama is the country with the largest investment, with nearly $251 million in construction projects for the construction of new schools and the expansion of existing schools, corresponding to 48 environmental impact studies submitted between January and September 2018.

In Costa Rica, 48 EIAs were presented, which together represent a total investment of approximately $81 million. Several projects that will be built in the provinces of San José and Alajuela are highlighted.

In Guatemala, three studies were presented for the construction of educational infrastructure, which together represent about $7 million in investment. In the case of Honduras, a $350.000 project was processed.

CentralAmericaData has information on the construction projects to be developed in Central America, with details such as estimated investment, times and phases of the project, supplies and equipment that will be required during and after construction, water treatment, and parking structure, among other things.

Last year, 62 environmental impact studies for the construction of industrial plants were presented in the countries of the region, and Costa Rica represented 73% of the estimated investment.
