Construction: $128 Million in Educational Infrastructure

In the first quarter of 2019, 32 environmental impact studies were presented for projects to build new education centers, as well as expansion and remodeling work in other institutions.

The interactive platform "Construction in Central America", compiled by the Trade Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, includes an up to date list of public and private construction projects for which environmental impact studies (EIA) were submitted to the respective institutions of each country.

Panama is the country with the largest investment, with nearly $70 million in projects dedicated to the construction of new schools and the expansion of existing schools, corresponding to 12 environmental impact studies submitted from January to March this year.

In Costa Rica, 16 EIAs were presented, which together represent an investment of approximately $55 million. The construction of an educational center in Monteverde, in the province of Puntarenas, with an estimated investment of $15 million, stands out.

For the quarter concerned in Guatemala, four studies were presented for the construction of educational infrastructure, which together add up to an investment of approximately $2.2 million.
