Costa Rican Companies, Main Buyers
From January to June last year, the main importing country in Central America was Costa Rica with $10 million, followed by El Salvador with $9 million, Nicaragua with $8 million, Panama with $7 million, Honduras with $5 million and Guatemala with $4 million.

Origin of Imports
In the first six months of 2019, 39% of the value imported from Central America came from China, 22% from the USA, 16% from Hong Kong, 6% from Mexico and 2% from Malaysia.

For the period in question over the last eight years, Hong Kong has been the fastest growing source market for imports, accounting for 7% of total purchases in 2012 and rising to 16% in 2019.

Regional Business Downwards
Between January and June 2018 and the same period in 2019, the value of communication radio imports into the region fell by 39%, from $69 million to $42 million.
