Colombian Gyms Coming to Central America

The Bodytech chain of gyms is to open branches in Panama and Costa Rica.

The Colombian gym chain, Bodytech has announced that is preparing to go public and establish itself as a leader in the region. In the coming months it plans to reach Panama, Costa Rica and Ecuador.

Bodytech projected it will have 150 branches and 270,000 members in six countries in the region. Currently it has 50 stores in Colombia, 13 in Peru and 48 in Chile. "The goal this year is to make a net profit of $40 million with this expansion plan ...".

Nicolas Loaiza, Bodytech's founder, said "with 200 thousand customers currently affiliated, the dream is to surpass a quarter million customers and $150 million in revenue."

The chain Multispa is to open two new offices in the Costa Rican capital in the coming months.

The two new fitness centers will open in areas of Tibás Llorente and Guachipelín, and will replace the current ones in San Jose and Escazu-Trejos Montealegre.

David Mears, president of the company, said the group is investing about $4 million in each of the sites which measure about 2,200 square meters.

Fitness Business Grows in Costa Rica

Four chains of gyms are planning an investment of over $8 million over the next two years.

With an investment of $3.2 million, Gold's Gym chain, will open three new stores in Curridabat, Escazú and Perez Zeledon.

According to LaNacion.com,"Multispa is another chain that will open branches to the north and west of San José in the next two years, said David Mears, owner of the firm."

El Salvador: Curves gyms expand

The Curves El Salvador franchise is in full expansion mode, driving by a specially designed program for working women.

Last September the company which specializes in feminine health care opened a branch in the city of San Miguel, in the east of the country, and to date has more than 200 active members.
