Coffee Sales Up 82% in El Salvador

The export volume during December 2010 ended with a sharp rise of 82.5% over what was exported in the same month last year.

The volume recorded was 181.395 bushels, compared to 99.387 bushels exported in December 2009. Export earnings showed better results by increasing 128% and collecting U.S. $ 31.28 million compared to a total of U.S. $ 13.74 million received in December 2009.

The increase in 2010/11 and expected crop prices in international markets have contributed to these achievements.

The average price per quintal exported during the month was U.S. $ 172.44, well above the prior year average price of U.S. $ 138.21 per quintal.

The accumulated export volume for the year 2010/2011, from October/10 to December / 10, recorded a total of 217.714 bushels, an increase of 49.3% over exports during the same period in the previous cycle. Export revenues increased 94.2% to total U.S. $ 37.06 million versus U.S. $ 19.08 million in the prior period 2009/10.

The main destinations of Salvadoran coffee during the first three months of this year were Germany with 34.9% followed by U.S. with 26.6%, then Japan with 10.9% and England 6.7%.

Export coffee negotiated by January 7 of the 2010/2011 harvest, has recorded a total of 1.345.545 bushels for a total of $ 242.830 and an average price of U.S. $ 180.47 per quintal. The volume presents an increase of 112% compared with 635.684 bushels sold in the previous crop during the same period, while the value improved by 162% compared to U.S. $ 92.82 million for the 2009/10 harvest. The average price per quintal for the 2010/2011 crop is U.S. $ 180.47.-

Regarding current crop records 2010/2011 coffee income as of December 31st is estimated at 1.6 million quintals, representing about 65% of the final crop forecast of 2.4 million quintals.

Nicaraguan Coffee Exports Increase

In the first month of the current 2011-2012 harvest, exports increased by 4% compared to the same period last season.

Foreign sales of coffee in the last October totaled $11.1 million, 3.7% higher than in October 2010 with $10.7 million, according to the Center for Exports (CETREX).

Foreign exchange earnings from exports of the aromatic 2010-11 crop will total $1,100 million.

The $1,100 million figure, represents a 59% increase compared to the 2009-10 harvest ($ 691.4 million), according to the National Coffee Association (Anacafe).

The record revenues are the result of the excellent prices which coffee reached during the 2010/2011 production, an average of $289 per quintal.

El Salvador: Coffee Exports Rose 88% In June

Exports totaled 170,060 quintals, 88% more than the 90,659 quintals in the same period in 2010.

According to the Salvadoran Coffee Council (CSC) in the same month revenues totaled $38.9 million, the average price per quintal exported was $229.

An article in Elsalvador.com's reports: "The cumulative export volume for the year 2010/2011, that is October 2010 to June 2011, reported a total of 1,920,925 quintals, an increase of 60.2% compared to exports during the same period the previous cycle which was 1,199,229 quintals.

Salvadoran Coffee Exports Up 74%

In May, 266,744 quintals were exported, 74% higher than the 153,324 in the same period in 2010.

Export revenues reported an increase of 149.4% and totaled $58.9 million compared to $23.6 million in May 2010.

"The average price per quintal exported this month was $220.85, surpassing by more than $65.00 the past average price of $154.09 per quintal." reported an article in Elsalvador.com, "For its part, the cumulative export volume for the year 2010/2011 from October 2010 to May 2011, totaled 1,741,076 quintals, an increase of 57.1% compared to exports during the same period in the previous cycle which was 1,108,570 quintals. "
