Co-Working: Business Increases

Almost a year after starting operations in Costa Rica with its first building, the American WeWork, dedicated to the rental of shared work spaces, announced that it plans to invest in two more properties in the next two years.

Thursday, February 27, 2020

In April 2019 it was announced that WeWork would have its first location in the C3 project (formerly Real Cariari), San José, in a 6-story building with capacity for 2,000 people. After having concluded the adaptation works, Microsoft, its first client in the country, is already operating in the building.

Rashid Sauma, director of WeWork Costa Rica, told Elfinancierocr.com that "... the financial and administrative uncertainty surrounding the brand has gone away for the operation in the country, as they already have three additional deals to Microsoft's and are expected to reach December 2020 with 100% occupancy in C3."

Sauma added that "... There is a lot of interest and acceptance in Costa Rica. Because we are in the Free Zone regime, we serve companies that also operate in this regime and we are focusing on service and technology businesses."

The company's plans for the next 24 months are to invest in two more buildings and to exceed 6,000 work spaces. Management estimates that the overall investment will exceed $10 million.
