Clothing and Footwear Push Down Inflation

In September, the Consumer Price Index in El Salvador reported a monthly variation of -0.15%, partly explained by price declines in the Clothing and Footwear and Transport divisions.

From the General Directorate of Statistics and Censuses report:

The behavior of the CPI regarding August 2019, is mainly explained by decreases of 0.77% in Clothing and Footwear and 0.64% in Transport; with which the accumulated inflation for September 2019 is -0.27%, lower variation to the registered in the same period of the previous year (0.85%).

Negative price variations in seven divisions drove monthly inflation down, with Clothing and Footwear standing out with 0.77 and Transport with 0.64%, motivated by the decrease in prices in footwear, fuel and air travel.

The Health division reported the main positive monthly variation, standing at 0.29%.

Food Prices Push Inflation Down

August 2019

In July the Consumer Price Index in El Salvador reported a monthly variation of -0.26%, explained partially by declines in the prices of Food and non-alcoholic beverages.

From the General Directorate of Statistics and Censuses report:

The General Index of Consumer Prices in July 2019 was 112.56, registering a 0.26% decrease, such variation is 0.12 percentage points lower with respect to the previous month.

Honduras: 4% year-on-year Inflation up to January 2019

February 2019

During the first month of the year, the rise in the consumer price index was caused by the behavior of the Water and Electricity Supply and Rental Divisions.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) registered a 0.03% monthly variation in January 2019, the lowest observed in that month since 2016, informed the Central Bank of Honduras.

Honduras: Annual Inflation up to February 2018 is 4.3%

March 2018

In February, the consumer price index registered a monthly variation of 0.64%, which is explained by an increase in the prices of education and of food and non-alcoholic beverages.

October 2017

In September, the consumer price index varied by 0.25%, mainly explained by transportation and health prices.

The most important results up to September are the monthly variation of 0.25%, accumulated inflation from January to September of 1.37% and annual inflation of 1.64%.
