Panamanian companies, Main Buyers
During 2018, the main importer of clothing and accessories in Central America was Panama with $494 million, followed by Costa Rica with $312 million, El Salvador with $285 million, Guatemala with $225 million, Honduras with $152 million and Nicaragua with $39 million.

Variation in Regional Imports
Between 2017 and 2018 the value of imported clothing in Central America increased 3%, rising from $1.467 million to $1.505 million.

Main Suppliers
Last year, 25% of the value imported from Central America was from China, 19% from the United States, 3% from Mexico and 3% from Colombia.

In the last seven years China has been the market origin of imports that has grown the most, given that in 2012 represented 16% of total Central American purchases and in 2018 that proportion reached 25%.

Last year Central America imported $1.467 billion worth of clothing and clothing accessories, the highest value in the last six years, registering a 15% increase compared to 2016.
