Imports by country
The main importer of clothing and accessories in Central America during the first quarter of 2018 was Panama with $112 million, followed by Costa Rica with $67 million, El Salvador with $65 million, Guatemala with $48 million, Honduras with $29 million and Nicaragua with $12 million.

Variation of regional imports
Between the first quarter of 2017 and the same period in 2018, the import value of clothing in Central America increased 3%, from $323 million to $332 million.

Origin of imports
During the period from January to March 23% of the value imported from Central America was from China, 21% from the United States, 5% from Spain and 3% from Colombia.

In the first three months of the last seven years, China has been the source market of imports that has grown the most, since in 2012 it represented 14% of total Central American purchases and in 2018 that proportion reached 23%.

In 2011 the country imported $251 million worth of clothes, an increase of 12% compared to the previous year.
