Guatemala: Highest-buyer
During the first three months of 2019, the main buyer of soap and cleaning preparations in Central America was Guatemala, with $12 million, followed by El Salvador, with $10 million, Nicaragua, with $7 million, Costa Rica, with $4 million, Panama, with $2 million and Honduras, with $1.2 million.

Business Behavior in Central America
Between the first three months of 2018 and the same period in 2019, the value imported into the region rose slightly, from $35.7 million to $36.6 million.

For the periods concerned, purchases from U.S. companies grew 6%, from $2.3 million to $2.6 million.

Main Suppliers
From January to March 2019, 7% of the value imported from Central America came from the US, 3% from Mexico, 1% from Spain and 1% from Colombia.

For the period in question over the past eight years, values imported from virtually all markets of origin have remained static, retaining most of the same proportions in total sales to the region.

Note: This analysis includes products such as soaps and washing products, soap in other forms, liquid soap, soap powder, flakes, shavings, solvent or emulsified waxes, metal polishing preparations and more.
