In an attempt to curb the spread of the disease, the demand for cleaning supplies has increased considerably. Against this backdrop, authorities plan to regulate prices over the coming months.

Victoria Hernández, the minister of economy, industry and trade, told that "... the measure must be applied by decree, so on March 17 I will take the matter to the Governing Council, which will instruct the ministry to issue the document. The regulation will be published this week and price regulation will be proposed for the next three to six months."

The preliminary list of products that would be subject to price regulation includes five, however, Hernández added that "... the market analysis remains and it may be decided to include other goods before issuing the decree."
