Cinta Costera road creates problems in Panama

The evaluation system which means that owners of nearby properties must contribute to its financing is generating controversy.

Friday, January 9, 2009 reported that under the concept that "public interest works be financed by the valuation system," properties located in Bella Vista, Calidonia, Punta Paitilla and part San Francisco will appear on a list at the end of February where the price they will have to contribute to pay for the Cinta Costera.

The president of the Association of Real Estate agents, Jose Boyd, said that it is unfair for works, which the entire country will have the opportunity to use, to be financed by just one sector.

According to, the opening date of the Coastal Strip of Panama was published in the newspaper La Prensa, where the Minister of Transportation and Public Works (MOP acronym in Spanish) said that everything was prepared for this weekend.
