Commercial Exchange
Central America's imports from the Dominican Republic and its exports to the Caribbean country have totaled an annual average of $650 million during 2013-2017.

During the first three months of 2018, trade between the region and the Dominican Republic totaled $147 million, a 3% increase over the same period in 2017.

Main products in the market
From January to March of this year, the main purchases made by Central American countries were plastic products, pharmaceuticals and electrical equipment. In general, these three types of products considerably determine Dominican companies' sales to their counterparts in Central America.

Regarding exports from Central America, the most important is the sale of pharmaceutical products, plastic articles and food preparations.

Exports by country
In 2017, the region's main exporter to the Dominican Republic was Costa Rica, with sales of $220 million. It was followed by Guatemala with $98 million, El Salvador with $83 million, Honduras with $64 million, Nicaragua with $7 million and Panama with $4 million.

Imports by country
Last year, Costa Rica was the Dominican Republic's largest importer of goods, reporting purchases of $60 million. Honduras followed with $25 million, Panama with $21 million, Guatemala with $17 million, El Salvador with $13 million and Nicaragua with $11 million.
