Choice Hotels Plans Expansion in Nicaragua

The hotel chain is looking for independent hotels in need of a commercial alliance with an international brand.

Development and strategy director of Real Hotels and Resorts, Rodolfo Guillioli, has held meetings with owners or representatives of hotels in the country, offering them to become part of one of the four brands of Choice Hotels: Sleep Inn, Comfort, Quality and Clarion.

"Currently we have 15 Choice brand hotels in the region, unfortunately Nicaragua is the only country where we do not operate and we would like in the very short term to proactively change this," Guillioli said in an interview with La Prensa.

Choice Hotels International plans an expansion particularly in the cities of Antigua Guatemala and Quetzaltenango.

Rodolfo Guillioli, executive of the hotel division of Grupo Poma, which owns the Choice Hotels franchise, said they hope to reach agreements with any of the 25 hotels in those cities which are not operating under any franchise.
