Variation of imports  
Between the first quarter of 2017 and the same period in 2018, the import value of iron and steel sheets in Honduras rose by 25%, going from $41 million to $51 million. 

In the first quarter of the last 3 years, sheet imports from China have reported a strong rebound, increasing from $14 million in 2016 to $36 million in 2016.

Origin of imports 
Between January and March 2018 70% of the import value came from China, 10% from Guatemala, 8% from Japan, 7% from El Salvador, 2% from Costa Rica and 1% from South Korea.

China is one of the markets of origin where imports have grown the most in the first quarter of the last seven years. In 2012 it represented 32% of the total value imported, and this year the figure rose to 70%. 

Observation:
The items included in the report are flat rolled products made of iron or non-alloy steel, hot rolled and cold rolled, plated, coated and uncoated, with an upper width less than or equal to 600 mm, among others.
