China's Coscon launches new multimodal service in Panama

Cosco Container Lines (Coscon) launched a new multimodal service in the Panamanian port of Balboa that links Asian markets with Mexico, Panama and the Caribbean.

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

The new service, known as the China Central America Express, was launched by the Cosco Sidney vessel that unloaded about 1,000 containers in Balboa for transport by rail to Colón.
The service – a joint venture by China-based Coscon, the Panama Ports Company (PPC) and Panama Canal Railway Company – provides a rapid and cost-competitive weekly link, said Lu Xin, deputy manager of Cosco Panama Maritime.
