Honduras, Main Seller
In the first half of 2020 the main exporter of coffee in Central America was Honduras, with $723 million, followed by Guatemala, with $469 million, Nicaragua, with $344 million, Costa Rica, with $223 million, El Salvador, with $83 million and Panama with $10 million.

For the months in question, Costa Rica's foreign sales increased by 9% year-on-year, Nicaragua's by 7%, Guatemala's by 3%, and El Salvador's and Honduras' by 2%, in both cases.

In the case of Panama, exports fell by 4%.

Variation in Regional Exports
Between the first half of 2019 and the same period of 2020, the value exported from the region increased 4%, rising from $1,782 million to $1,852 million.

The year-on-year increase recorded in sales in the first half of 2020 is partly explained by the performance of exports to Germany, which increased from $242 million to $285 million.

Rising Export Prices
In recent months, the average price of regional coffee exports has registered a clear upward trend, rising from $2.44 per kilo in November 2019 to $3.23 in June 2020.

Destination of Exports
In the first half of the year, 36% of the value exported from Central America was destined for the USA, 15% for Germany, 10% for Belgium, 6% for Italy and 5% for Japan.
