Central America as a Market for Mexican SMEs

ProMéxico is preparing, for sometime in June, a trade mission to Costa Rica and Guatemala for SMEs from the sectors of fresh and processed foods, plastics, and the automotive industry.

Friday, April 19, 2013

According to Edmundo González, coordinator of ProMéxico (organizer of the mission in conjunction with Canacintra), "the range of opportunities in both countries is very wide and interesting for the food sector, both fresh and processed, plastics, automotive and foundry industries, and for this reason we are inviting small and medium enterprises to explore these possibilities. "

"... Central America represents a major opportunity for Mexican companies," said the official, adding that because of its proximity to the southern U.S., the market is important for regional SMEs, "but it is also true that there is a real opportunity for companies in Central America and some countries in South America, and that is a very compatible opportunity and we have to take advantage of it. "

"... It is worth exploring the possibilities opened up by this mission, because our commercial advisors in those countries have prepared a series of requirements which they will present to businesses over there, and establish appointments with potential buyers, so it is very viable opportunity and one that should be explored and probed, with the idea of placing their goods and products in the market," he added.
