Central America: Printer Market Up 10%

In 2017, countries in the region imported $373 million worth of printing machines and equipment, 10% more than what was reported in 2016.

Imports by country 
In 2017, the main importer of printing machines and equipment in Central America was Costa Rica with $89 million, followed by Guatemala with $83 million, El Salvador with $69 million, Panama with $68 million, Honduras with $45 million and Nicaragua with $26 million.

Origin of imports 
In 2017, 53% of the value imported from Central America came from the USA, 10% from China, 4% from Japan, 4% from the Panama Free Trade Zone and 3% from Germany.

During the last six years, the US was the market of origin of imports that has grown the most, as in 2012 it represented 70% of the total value purchased by the region and in 2017 that proportion rose to 53%.

Variation of regional imports 
Between 2016 and 2017 the total value imported into Central America rose by 10%, growing from $341 million to $373 million last year. This rise contrasts with the reduction reported between 2015 and 2016, when imports fell by 2%, going from $347 million to $341 million.
