Central America: Port Sector Event

From 26 to 30 August, representatives of the port industry of Central America and the Dominican Republic will meet in Antigua Guatemala to discuss innovation, trends and facilitation of international trade.

Guatemala has become the venue for one of the most important port events in Central America: the 41st Port Meeting of the Central American Isthmus, better known by its acronym REPICA.

The objective will be to bring together port companies and authorities from Central America and the Dominican Republic, constituting a valuable exchange of experiences and knowledge among the participants, strengthening institutional relations that contribute to the region's integration process and the implementation of innovation and modernization plans.

Topics to be addressed:
-Economic Integration and Facilitation of Maritime Trade.
-The Role of the Port Authority in Facilitating Maritime Trade.
-Experiences and Good (Best) Practices.
-Marketing in the Port Business.
-Gender Equity: Component of Social Responsibility in Port Development.
-Impact of Climate Change on Port Management: Mitigation and Adaptation Actions.
-Strengthening of Human Capital: Trends, Projections, Needs and Innovations in the Scope of Port Training and Education.
-New Business Lines in the Port Sector.
-Trends in Maritime Transport and their Impact on the Ports of the Region.
-Short Sea Shipping in Central America: Opportunities and Limitations.
-Integral Risk Management: Requirements for Ports.

The event will be held at the Hotel Museo Casa Santo Domingo, Antigua Guatemala City from August 26 to 30, 2019.

Port Meeting of the Central American Isthmus 2017

From July 25 to 28 representatives from the port industry in the region will be meeting in Belize at the XXXIX Port Meeting of the Central American Isthmus.

At the event, to be held at the Best Westerm Biltmore Plaza Hotel in Belize, the main discussion panels will address current issues such as the Cruise Industry, Mobility and Logistics Policy in Central America, Strengthening Environmental Port Management in Central America, Multilateral Agreement And Safety, Port Security and Protection,  Gross Verified Mass (GVM), Climate Change and the Role of Women in the Port Industry, among others.

Representatives from the Central American Commission on Maritime Transport (COCATRAM) will be meeting in Panama from the 16th to 19th of June to participate in the XXXVII Port Meeting of the Central American Isthmus (REPICA).

Representatives of the port industry in the region will meet in Nicaragua from 19 to 22 May at the XXXVI Port Meeting of Central America.

During the event, there will be an exchange of ideas and experiences on matters relating to ports.

TOC Americas 2011 Panama Begins

November 2011

The TOC Container Supply Chain Americas conference will be held November 15-17 at the El Panama hotel, Panama City.

With the theme of "Redefining the logistics scene in the region," the three-day conference will seek to discover a source of revenue for the much-needed infrastructure improvements throughout the region, to understand the connectivity of land transport networks, and to develop strategies for coping with continuing increases in the volume and size of ships.
