Central America: New Investments in Construction

The construction of a thermoelectric plant in Panama, a food processing plant in Costa Rica and a vertical residential complex in Guatemala are part of the projects planned for the coming months in the region.

The interactive system "Construction in Central America", compiled by the Trade Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, includes an up to date list of public and private construction projects that are expected to be built in the coming months.

Detail of some of the Environmental Impact Studies presented recently:

Paypo, Inc. submitted the EIA to build a 200 MW thermoelectric power plant in Bahía Las Minas in the province of Colón, Panama. According to the document, the polygon of the project called "Project Paypo Power I" is 23 hectares, of which 17 hectares will be developed, and $355 million is expected to be invested.

In Costa Rica, Inversiones Corymex MCR S.A. plans to build an industrial plant in Siquirres, province of Limón, where a plant will be installed to process pineapple juice and banana puree, with high technology equipment. According to the EIA of the project called "Construction, Installation and Operation of an aseptic pineapple juice and banana purée processing plant", it is expected to invest close to $15.5 million.

Inmobiliaria Antela, S.A. plans to build a residential complex in El Naranjo County, in the municipality of Mixco, Guatemala, consisting of five towers of eight levels each, which in total will house 160 apartments. The project called "Serena Apartamentos" will require an investment of close to $7.4 million.

$400 million investment in Thermoelectric Plant

In Panama the Chinese consortium Martano has submitted an environmental impact study to build a 423 MW combined cycle power plant in the village of Puerto Pilon, province of Colon.

Data from the Information System on Construction Projects in Central Area Commercial provided by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, shows that on December 1, 2016 the company Martano Inc submitted an environmental impact assessment (EIA) to Miambiente to build an energy generation plant.

Panama: $161 million in Residential Projects

October 2016

Horizontal and vertical residential constructions in Panama, Panama West and Chiriqui are some of the projects for which environmental impact studies were presented in August 2016.
