Variation of regional imports 
Between 2016 and 2017 the import value of communication radios in the region fell by 3%, decreasing from $146 million to $142 million.

Contrary to the behavior of total imports, for the years in question, purchases made from the USA increased by 4%, going up from $35 million to $37 million. 

Imports by country 
In 2017, the main importing country in Central America was Costa Rica with $42 million, followed by Nicaragua with $29 million, Panama with $25 million, El Salvador with $18 million, Honduras with $16 million and Guatemala with $13 million.

Origin of imports 
26% of the value imported last year from Central America came from the USA, 23% from China, 18% from Hong Kong, 8% from Poland and 4% from Sweden. 

In the last five years the USA has been the origin market for imports that has declined the most, as in 2013 it represented 35% of total purchases and in 2017 that proportion fell to 26%.
