Central America Looks For Tourists in Europe

Without neglecting the country that has always provided the bulk of its visitors, Central American countries are now focusing their marketing efforts on the old continent.

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

"Central America has landed in the International Tourism Exchange (ITB), world leader of the sector, as a thriving market and is pointing towards Europe as its future target, even though at the moment the country sending the most tourists is America", noted an article in Prensa.com.

We are still enjoying an upward and continuous trend. The global crisis exists, resulting in shorter stays and less daily expenditure, but we can boast a 6.9% increase in visitor numbers in 2012", said Allan Flores, Minister of Tourism for Costa Rica.

"We receive preferentially regional tourism, from our neighbors in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, in front, followed by North Americans, and at a distance from the South", said Walter Alemán, Vice Minister of Tourism in El Salvador.

In the view of Nixia Lasso, director of Márquetin de Panamá, "Panama is a priority destination not only for investors and those with great economic power, but also for common tourism beyond the attraction of the canal".
