Variation of intraregional trade  
Considering the January-September period, between 2014 and 2016 the total value of paint and varnish traded among Central American countries has grown at an average of 10%, with the year 2015 registering the highest increase, with a rise of 18% compared to the same period in 2014.

Intraregional exports by country 
In the first nine months of 2016 the leading exporter of paint and varnish in Central America was Costa Rica with $44 million, followed by El Salvador with $22 million, Guatemala, with $21 million, Honduras with $3 million, and Nicaragua and Panama recorded exports of less than $1 million.

Main intraregional importer
In the first three quarters of 2016 Nicaragua was the main buyer of paint and varnish from other Central American countries, importing $21.4 million of which $9.3 was bought from Guatemala, $9 million from Costa Rica, $2.6 million from El Salvador and $0.5 million from Honduras.
