Central America Imports More Sausages

Imports by country 
In the first nine months of 2017 the main importer of sausages in Central America was El Salvador, with $21 million, followed by Guatemala, with $17 million, Nicaragua, with $13 million, Honduras and Panama, with $10 million each, and Costa Rica, with $7 million.

Changes in imports 
Between January and September of the years 2016 and 2017 the import volume of sausages registered an increase of 3%, rising from 27 thousand tons in 2016 to 28 thousand tons in 2017.

For the periods in question, the import value also registered growth, rising from $74 million in 2016 to $79 million in 2017.

From January to September of the years between 2013 and 2017, the value of regional sales abroad has grown steadily at an annual average of 9%.

Origin of imports 
From January to September 2017, 39% of the value exported from Central America came from the USA, 13% from Mexico and 1% from Spain.
