Variation of regional imports 
Between 2015 and 2016, the value of imported plastic pipes and fittings in Central America increased by 10%, rising from $299 million in 2015 to $331 million in 2016. 

During these two years the imported volume also increased by 17%, going from 71,615 tons in 2015 to 83,923 tons in 2016.

Imports by country 
Last year, the main purchaser of plastic pipes and fittings in Central America was Costa Rica, with $144 million, followed by Panama, with $50 million, Honduras, with $46 million, Guatemala, with $40 million, Nicaragua, $29 million and El Salvador, with $22 million. 

Origin of imports 
In 2016, 38% of the value imported from Central America came from the US, 9% from Mexico, 4% from Colombia and 3% from Germany.

May 2017

In 2016 the volume of imported aluminum and its manufactures in the region amounted to 149 thousand tons, equivalent to $572 million, 11% less than the value bought in 2015.
