Central America: Import of Sauces from Mexico Down 11%

In the first semester of 2017, Central American countries imported $17 million worth of sauces and their preparations from Mexico, 11% less than in the same period in 2016.

Variation of regional imports 
Between the first semester of 2016 and the same period in 2017 the value imported from the region from Mexico fell by 11%, going from $19 million to $17 million.

The import volume decreased by 14%, going from 3,596 tons in the first semester of 2016 to 3,099 tons in the same period in 2017.

Imports by country 
From January to June 2017, the main importer of sauces from Mexico was Guatemala, with $11 million, followed by Honduras, with $3 million, El Salvador and Costa Rica, with $1 million each.

Price of imports
Between January 2012 and June 2017, the average price of an imported kilo increased by 93%, rising from $3.46 to $6.68.
