Honduras and Guatemala have hosted previous editions of the Central American Cruise Summit.
El Salvador will receive representatives of ports, tourism authorities and industry related to cruise ships.
July 22, 2014. Today the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Jose Napoleon Duarte Durán, together with the Vice President, Mr. Oscar Ortiz announced that El Salvador will host the III Central American Cruise Summit to be held next year.
The Central American Cruise Summit is an event which takes place every two years and brings together service providers who work in ports and cruise destinations, tour operators, tourist destinations, suppliers and shippers who take part in conferences, development of workshops, discussions, one to one meetings, meetings of countries and specialized lectures for operation of ports, related to quality management, reception and services for cruise ships, development of on shore excursions, entertainment and all operations related to the tourism cruise industry.

Following a slight rebound in 2016, the arrival of ten cruisers from six foreign companies is expected in the 2017 season, with about 5,000 tourists on board.
In 2015 tourism authorities reported the arrival of 5 cruise ships during the season, a slight improvement compared to the figures of previous years, particularly the years 2013, 2014 and 2015, in which only one cruise was recorded each season.
The Central American Cruise Summit 2017 will be held in San Pedro Sula from May 10 to 12, and is expected to include the participation of 200 people linked to the tourist industry in the region.
At the summit organized every year by the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association issues will be discussed such as tourism development, ports, tourism operations and security for tourists, among other issues related to the cruise industry.
The Central Rail Summit 2015 will be held in El Salvador, from May 13th to 15th, where it is expected that 15 corporations from the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association will be involved.
The Salvadoran Chamber of Tourism (CASATUR) hopes to have the participation of 30 union members who will be publicizing various tour packages offered by shipping lines.
