In 2017, purchases of electric motors and generators from Central American countries totaled $152 million, which represents an increase of 3% compared to the previous year.

Variation of regional imports 
Between 2016 and 2017 the import value of electric motors and generators in Central America rose by 3%, growing from $148 million to $152 million. 

For the years in question, Central American purchases of Chinese generators grew by 23%, rising from $16.1 million to $19.8 million.

Imports by country 
Last year the main buyer of electric motors and generators in Central America was Panama, with $47 million, followed by Guatemala, with $36 million, Costa Rica, with $24 million, Honduras, with $22 million, El Salvador, with $13 million and Nicaragua, with $9 million. 

Origin of imports 
In 2016, 25% of the value imported from Central America came from the USA, 13% from China, 11% from Germany, 6% from Spain and 5% from Brazil.

China is the country of origin of Central American imports that has grown the most in the last six years, as in 2012 it represented 3% of the total value purchased and in 2017 this figure reached 13%.

September 2018

In the first three months of 2018 imports of electric motors and generators added up to $16 million, a figure that is triple the $5 million that the Central American country bought in the same period in 2017.

Imports of Electric Generators from Brazil Up

September 2017

In 2016 imports of electric motors and generators in Central America totaled $148 million, and purchases from the South American country grew 61% compared to 2015.
