Central America: $70 Million in Industrial Investment

From January to June 2019, 35 environmental impact studies were presented in the countries of the region to build industrial plants, and Costa Rica concentrated 74% of the estimated investment.

The interactive platform "Construction in Central America", compiled by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, includes an up to date list of public and private construction projects for which environmental impact studies (EIA) were submitted to the respective institutions of each country.

Costa Rica is the country in the region with the largest investment in the first half of the year, with approximately $51 million in industrial projects, corresponding to 17 environmental impact studies presented.

It is followed by Guatemala, where seven EIAs were presented, which together add up to an investment of approximately $10 million. Among the projects that stand out is an industrial complex of warehouses.

In Panama, six studies were presented for the work in different types of industrial plants that add up to a global investment of approximately $6 million. The most important project consists of the expansion of the industrial area of a company that processes seafood.

Seven projects were presented in El Salvador, with an estimated total investment of $2 million.
