Central America: $480 Million in Educational Infrastructure

In 2018, 120 environmental impact studies were submitted for projects to build new education centers, as well as expansion and remodeling work in other institutions.

The interactive platform "Construction in Central America", compiled by the Trade Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData, includes an up to date list of public and private construction projects for which environmental impact studies (EIA) were submitted to the respective institutions of each country.

Panama is the country that invested the most, with nearly $267 million in projects dedicated to the construction of new schools and the expansion of existing schools, corresponding to 59 environmental impact studies submitted in 2018.

In Costa Rica, 57 EIAs were presented, which together total an investment of approximately $106 million. The construction of an educational center in Desamparados, in the province of San José, with an estimated investment of $11 million, stands out.

In Guatemala, three studies were presented for the construction of educational infrastructure, which together add up to an investment of approximately $7 million. In the case of Honduras, a project totaling $350,000 was processed.
