Central America: $212 million in Hospital Projects

In the last year, 17 environmental impact studies were presented to build hospitals, clinics and other health care centers in Central American countries.

Data from the interactive platform "Construction in Central America", compiled by the Business Intelligence Unit at CentralAmericaData:  

Panama is the country with the largest investment, with about $158 million in construction projects dedicated to medical services, corresponding to 9 environmental impact studies submitted between August 2016 and July 2017. Projects include the construction in Chiriquí of a hospital which will be part of the Caja del Seguro Social and in the province of Panama a tower of offices called "Regency Medical Center".  

In Nicaragua, 2 EIAs were presented, which together total an investment of approximately $48 millionThe construction that stands out is the "San Pablo II Catholic University Hospital" in Estelí.

In Costa Rica three studies were presented for the construction of hospital infrastructure. The projects require an estimated investment of $5 million, and highlights include one called "Six-story building and a basement for medical tower" to be built in San Jose.

In Guatemala, 3 EIAs were processed for medical infrastructure projects with an estimated investment of $1 million.
