Cement Plant Announced in Honduras

The Honduran government has announced that it has signed an agreement with the italian Goldlake Group, to build a cement plant, with an estimated value of $200 million.

From a statement issued by the Presidency of Honduras:

Within the framework of the VII Italian-American Latin America and the Caribbean Conference, and with President Juan Orlando Hernandez as a witness of honor, the Government of Honduras also today signed an agreement with the Italian group Goldlake for the construction of a new cement plant in the country, at a cost of 200 million dollars.

Economic Development Minister Alden Rivera announced that construction of the cement plant will start in July in the Valley of Agalteca.

Honduran Cement Plant Closed

October 2019

Argos announced the closure of its processing plant located in San Lorenzo, department of Valle, arguing that the current conditions of the cement market in the country are not the best.

One of the factors taken into account by the company for this decision was that between 2018 and 2019, activity in the construction sector decreased by 10%.

In the municipality of Acajutla, the Monterrey business group began construction of an industrial plant with the capacity to produce 120 thousand tons of cement per year.

Executives of the company of Guatemalan origin, reported that the construction of the industrial plant will be done on a 10-block lot that is on the road connecting Acajutla and Sonsonate.

Honduras: Construction of Cement Plant Announced

February 2018

The company Argos plans to invest $21 million in a new cement plant with capacity to produce up to 440,000 tons per year in Choloma, department of Cortés.

According to officials from Argos Honduras, the new plant will expand the company's total production capacity by 30%. 

Cement Factory Company in Southern Honduras

January 2017

The new Cementos Argos plant in San Lorenzo required an investment of $25 million and will increase installed capacity by 30%, producing a total of 1 million 300 thousand tons.
