Cement: New Plant Built in El Salvador

In the municipality of Acajutla, the Monterrey business group began construction of an industrial plant with the capacity to produce 120 thousand tons of cement per year.

Executives of the company of Guatemalan origin, reported that the construction of the industrial plant will be done on a 10-block lot that is on the road connecting Acajutla and Sonsonate.

Laprensagrafica.com reviews that "... the proximity of the industrial dock will make it easier to bring raw materials from Asia and that its business model will be based on generating competition, which will ensure that there is no shortage in the domestic market. The factory will produce quality cement with 20 % more resistance than the products known so far."

Roberto Díaz Durán, president of Cemento Regional, stated that "... the cement company found in the current government of El Salvador the facilities to carry out the construction management of the processing plant in the canton of San Julián, in Acajutla."

According to reports from CentralAmericaData, last year the main importer of hydraulic cements in Central America was Nicaragua, with $48 million, followed by Guatemala, with $44 million, El Salvador, with $25 million, Honduras, with $14 million, Panama, with $13 million and Costa Rica, with $10 million.
