Imports by country
In the first six months of 2018, the main mobile buyer in Central America was Guatemala, with $211 million, followed by Costa Rica, with $135 million, Honduras, with $82 million, El Salvador, with $77 million, Panama, with $46 million and Nicaragua, with $23 million.

Variation in regional imports
Between the first half of 2017 and the same period in 2018, the value imported into the region fell 3%, from $590 million to $574 million.

In contrast to the general behavior of imports, for the periods concerned purchases from companies in Hong Kong increased by 84%, rising from $70 million to $129 million.

Origin of imports
From January to June 39% of the value imported into the region was from the USA, 29% from China, 22% from Hong Kong and 6% from Vietnam.

Hong Kong is the country of origin of Central American imports which has increased the most in the first half of the last seven years, since in 2012 it represented 12% of the total value purchased, and in 2018 it increased to 22%.

December 2017

Between January and June 2017, the region imported $590 million worth of mobile phones, 10% more than the imports in the same period in 2016.

Central America: Call Phone Imports Down 6%

March 2017

Between January and September 2016 the countries in the region imported $791 million worth of cellular phones, 6% less than the imports in the same period in 2015.
