Car Brands in Central America

At the beginning of 2020, 25% of the automobile type vehicles circulating on the streets of Central American countries were of the KIA, Suzuki, Mazda and Nissan brands, while of the total of light cargo vehicles, Ford, Mitsubishi and Chevrolet monopolized 14%.

The report "Vehicles in Central America", from the Trade Intelligence Unit of CentralAmericaData collects the most updated information on the automotive market in Central American countries.

Regional Analysis by Type and Brand
The interactive data details that about 29% of the total number of motorcycles in the region are Honda, TVS, Yumbo, Hero and Bajaj. Other brands that have an important participation in the fleet of this type of vehicles are Suzuki, Yamaha, Italika and Freedom.

Reviewing the figures of the automobile type units, the interactive platform details at the beginning of this year it was estimated that 28% of the vehicles circulating are of the Hyundai, Honda and Mazda brands. In the case of Toyota, Kia, Ford and Mitsubishi, account for 37% of the total.

With regard to the fleet of heavy-duty transport vehicles, the report explains that Ford, Isuzu and GMC, account for 16% of the total in Central America. Freightliner, Mack and International concentrate about 24%.

Analyzing the global figures, it is estimated that 44% of vehicles circulating in the region were automobiles, 31% motorcycles, 16% light-duty units, 5% heavy-duty and 3% were buses.
