Capital Goods Imports grow at 5%

Between January and October 2019, imports of Capital Goods reached $2.853 billion, 5% higher than reported in the same period of 2018.

Total imports reached $16.582 million, $124 million (0.8%) higher than October 2018 ($16.458 million). The increase in imports was mainly influenced by the positive variation observed in Non-Durable Consumer Goods with a $148 million (5.1%) increase as well as in Capital Goods for Industry with a $117.1 million (5.4%) increase, informed the Banco de Guatemala.

The report states that "... The total amount of General Commerce exports was US$9,275.8 million, higher by US$65.4 million than that registered in October 2018 (US$9,210.4 million). The most important products according to their participation in the total value of exports were: Clothing with US$1,176.9 million (12.7%); Banana with US$714.3 million (7.7%); Coffee with US$629.8 million (6.8%); Sugar with US$581.0 million (6.3%); as well as Cardamom with US$412.0 million (4.4%). These products represented 37.9% of total exports.

 The main export destinations were: United States of America with US$3,056.1 million (32.9%); Central America with US$2,789.1 million (30.1%); Eurozone with US$752.1 million (8.1%); Mexico with US$460.3 million (5.0%); and Panama with US$203.9 million (2.2%); countries and regions that together represented 78.3% of the total
."

Up to September 2019, the global amount of exports reached $8.419 million, with clothing, bananas and coffee being the main products sold abroad.

The total amount of General Commerce exports stood at $8,418.8 million, $66.7 million higher than that recorded in September 2018 ($8,352.1 million).

Salvadoran Exports up 3%

November 2018

Because of the sales behavior of the manufacturing industry, from January to October, the country's sales abroad totaled $5.008 million, 3% more than what was reported in the same period of 2017.

The manufacturing industry, including maquila goods, reached US$4,845.7 million exported up to October 2018, which shows a growth of 3.4% of the sector, reported the Central Reserve Bank.
