C.A. defines proposal for new round of talks with EU

This week in Guatemala negotiators from Central America will define the new proposal that they will present at the next round of negotiations in Brussels.

Elconomista.es reports "that the Guatemalan Foreign Minister, Alfredo Trinidad, commented that of the three pillars of the negotiations: commercial, political and cooperation, they hope to make the most progress with the second.

At the worktable for political dialogue they will push the "search for consensus on topics such as disarmament, the fight on terrorism, serious crimes of international concern, development financing, immigration, the environment, and a common economic-financial fund," he said."

UE Agreement Postponed Until September

Commerce authorities from El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica decided to resume negotiations in September.

Guatemala's Economic Minister, Rubén Morales, informed that if the Honduran political crisis is not resolved by September, they will consider resuming negotiations without the country, and letting Honduras rejoin later.

Central America Will Study EU Agreement

Next week in Costa Rica, the countries of the region will define their negotiation strategy with the European Union.

The meeting will take place at the Central American Integration Secretary, known in Spanish as Sieca.

"Ministers will define if the region continues negotiations without Honduras.

Central American negotiators meet before heading to Brussels

The technical teams will meet in Guatemala next week to come up with a consensus for the proposal that they will take to the sixth round of negotiations.

From August 16 to 22 a meeting for Central American coordination of the three pillars of the Association Agreement between Central America and the EU was held in Guatemala City.
