Buyers Mission Closes with more than $40 million in Business

BTM closes with more than $40 million in projected business

The U.S., Spain and Canada were the countries with the most openings for Costa Rican products.

September 25, 2012. After 24 hours of negotiations, the Buyers Trade Mission-BTM-2012 closed with a projected $41 million in business, which would exceed the 2011 figure of $38 million. The United States stood out as the country that decided to buy the most Costa Rican products, followed by Spain and Canada, while, as a region, the first place went to the European Union.

The best sellers in this XIV Buyers Mission were pineapples, fresh and frozen, mangos, fresh and frozen, tubers, palms, chayotes, plants, flowers and foliage, snacks, sauces, tuna, arepas, jellies, dressings, articles of clothing, and construction.

Buyers Trade Mission in Costa Rica

The Buyers Trade Mission (BTM) will take place from 24th to 28th September 2012 at Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura, Costa Rica.

The event will feature at least 250 international companies who aim to strike export deals with approximately 250 Costa Rican companies through business agendas, display stands, conferences and also a showroom of high-tech industrial products produced in Costa Rica.

$25 Million Worth of Deals Expected in Buyers Trade Mission

The BTM event, organized by Procomer, began yesterday with 270 Costa Rican exporters taking part.

Industrial, agricultural and food sector producers will be at the conference with a huge variety of products ranging from frozen cassava to robotic arms.

Álvaro Piedra, trade promotion manager for Costa Rica's export promotion agency, Procomer, told Nacion.com that, "BTM's objective this time round is to help deals to be reached worth $25 million, $5 million more than 2009's goal".
